The Background of Crossroads
The National Association of Crossroads took its name from the
TV series Crossroads.
The programme makers
portrayed a character who was disabled following an accident. As
a result,
the problems of families caring for someone with a disability became
known to the Producers and Central TV donated £10,000 for a
pilot Scheme in Rugby in 1974 to help Carers.
Crossroads is now a national
organisation with approximately 200 Schemes throughout the United
Kingdom.
